Designed to closely mirror the dimensions of the original 1923 Yankee Stadium across the street.

What makes it iconic

  • Monument Park beyond the center field wall, transferred from the original stadium — plaques and retired numbers honoring Yankee greats from Ruth to Jeter.
  • The exterior limestone facade and frieze along the upper deck are exact references to the 1923 stadium.
  • Great Hall behind home plate — a soaring entry concourse with banners of franchise legends.
  • Replaced the original Yankee Stadium (1923–2008), which sat directly across 161st Street.

Notable moments

  • Derek Jeter's 3,000th hit — a home run — on July 9, 2011, becoming the first Yankee to reach the milestone.
  • Aaron Judge's 62nd home run in 2022, breaking Roger Maris's American League single-season record.
  • Game 6 of the 2009 World Series — the new park's first championship, won in its inaugural season.
  • Derek Jeter's walk-off single in his final home game, September 25, 2014.
